Yihai Kerry Maoming Soybean Crushing Project Officially Commences Production, Adding New Momentum to Port-Side Grain and Oil Industry

2026-09-24

On August 16, 2026, coinciding with the opening of the South China Sea (Maoming Bohe) fishing season, the commissioning ceremony for the soybean crushing project of Yihai Kerry (Maoming) Grain and Oil Industry Co., Ltd. was grandly held at the Maoming Binhai New Area plant. Huang Peng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Maoming Binhai New Area; Mai Bin, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Maoming Binhai New Area; representatives from Guangdong Yuedian Bohe Energy Co., Ltd. and Maoming Guanggang Terminal Co., Ltd.; senior executives from Yihai Kerry Group and its regional operations; as well as representatives from relevant government departments, partners, and employees gathered at the site to witness this important milestone.

Another Key Piece in the Port-Side Layout as the Full Industrial Chain Takes Shape

Yihai Kerry is a core invested enterprise in China of Wilmar International, a Fortune Global 500 company, and its brands such as "Arawana" and "Hu Jihua" are widely recognized. Since establishing its presence in Maoming Binhai New Area in 2018, the company has invested 1.5 billion yuan to build a large-scale comprehensive grain and oil food production and processing base in the Bohe New Port Area. The base covers an area of 145 mu and has successively completed flour processing, Edible Oil filling, peanut crushing, warehousing and logistics, and environmental protection support facilities, forming a relatively complete industrial chain.

The soybean crushing project commissioned this time has a daily processing capacity of 3,000 tons, further extending the plant's business into the field of soybean feed protein processing. Once the project reaches full capacity, the annual processing capacity of the Maoming plant is expected to rise to 1 million tons, with an estimated annual output value of 5 billion yuan. Leveraging its location behind the general-purpose terminal in the Bohe New Port Area, the project can rely on the deep-water port's grain silos and specialized loading and unloading systems to achieve nearby discharge and local processing of imported grain, significantly improving logistics efficiency.

Joint Efforts to Advance Regional Industrial Upgrading

At the commissioning ceremony, Chen Fansheng, General Manager of Yihai Kerry Group's Maoming and Hainan Region, stated that the commissioning of the soybean crushing project is of great significance to the development of the base itself as well as the upgrading of the agricultural industry in western Guangdong and even the greater southwestern region. With high-quality soybean meal and extruded soybean powder as its main products, the project can provide long-term, stable, safe, and reliable protein raw material supplies for the aquaculture and livestock industry in western Guangdong, helping to consolidate supply security for the regional breeding industry chain. At the same time, the project forms deep synergies with the existing Oil Refining, flour processing, filling and warehousing, and peanut crushing operations at the Maoming plant, achieving raw material interconnection, capacity complementarity, and production-sales coordination, further unleashing the advantages of integrated operations. Chen Fansheng emphasized that Yihai Kerry will rely on Wilmar International's global resource network, continue to strengthen internal management, strictly uphold food safety standards, and contribute to Maoming City and Binhai New Area's efforts to build a new highland for the port-side economy.

Wang Wei, Deputy Director of Yihai Kerry Group's Feed Raw Materials Department, pointed out in his remarks that western Guangdong is an important livestock and aquatic farming base in the province, with hog slaughter volumes, poultry inventories, and output of shrimp and tilapia ranking among the top in the province and even the country. However, protein raw materials such as soybean meal have long depended on long-distance transportation, resulting in high logistics costs and insufficient supply stability. After the Maoming soybean crushing project is commissioned, soybean meal and extruded soybean powder will be supplied locally, greatly shortening the transportation radius, reducing procurement costs for feed enterprises and farming terminals, and enhancing the efficiency and resilience of the regional supply chain. He expressed confidence that the Maoming plant will be built into a core base for feed raw material supply in western Guangdong.

Mai Bin, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Maoming Binhai New Area, congratulated the project on behalf of the Party Working Committee and Management Committee of the New Area. He noted that the commissioning of the project further strengthens the grain and oil processing industrial cluster in the Bohe New Port Area and provides strong support for the Binhai New Area's efforts to build a 100-billion-yuan port-side industrial cluster. The Binhai New Area will continue to strengthen the Bohe New Port Area as the main platform for port-side industries, making sustained efforts in factor guarantees, government services, and port customs clearance to promote the rapid achievement of full production and maximum benefits across Yihai Kerry's production lines.

Ceremonial Start-Up Marks a New Stage of Integrated Operations

During the start-up ceremony, Huang Peng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Maoming Binhai New Area, and Fang Yanjiang, General Manager of Yihai Kerry Group's Guangdong Region and Chairman of Yihai Kerry (Maoming) Grain and Oil Industry Co., Ltd., jointly opened the ceremonial gate and announced the official start-up of the soybean crushing project. The venue erupted in applause, creating a lively atmosphere. After the ceremony, attending leaders and guests took group photos and, accompanied by the plant's management team, visited the soybean crushing workshop to gain an on-site understanding of the production process and full workflow.

The official commissioning of the soybean crushing project marks the full connection of the entire industrial chain of Yihai Kerry (Maoming) Grain and Oil Co., Ltd., officially entering a new stage of large-scale, integrated, and high-quality operations. This is an important step in Yihai Kerry's continued deepening of the South China market and improvement of its regional industrial layout. In the future, the company will use Maoming as a pivot to serve western Guangdong and surrounding markets, continuously enhancing refined operations and customer service capabilities, strengthening industrial chain synergies, and working hand in hand with the government, partners, and all parties in the industrial chain to inject new momentum into regional agricultural product processing, feed raw material supply, and related industrial development.
